Divetracks loves giving something back to the host country. By supporting a number of local charitable institutions, we again emphasize that making money for ourselves is not the goal of Divetracks. And we support only the projects we really know. By ‘know’ we mean; we’ve seen it, we know how it works, and we know the people behind the projects.
When you come with us on a track, you’ll get the chance to visit one or more projects in the Philippines. Consider the possibility that while being on a track, we might come across new projects to be added on our list of charitable institutions worth supporting.
Jürgen Schneidt went to the Philippines in the early 80’s and saw what happened to the money he sent to a charitable institution for children. Or rather, he saw what didn’t happen to the money. He decided to do something about it - to try to set up social help in an effective way. And he’s been successful. Today Jürgen Scheidt offers housing, maintenance, medical/nursing care and education to more than a hundred children with minimum costs. For more information: http://kinderhilfe.zdf.de.
During the very first track we made, we discovered a project with the help of a Filipino, Vince Navaja. We’ve known Vince for years as a diving instructor, but we didn’t know that he’s also an administrative member of a Philippine charitable organization. This organization helps less-fortunate families to send their children to school. Children who, without your help, would be deprived of any form of education.
